James Dudley, Hodge Hill Contract, Birmingham City Council

Gains immense satisfaction from completing a neat and tidy job

James started as a seasonal worker in 2008 and was pleased to be accepted onto the apprenticeship scheme when a vacancy arose. After leaving school he completed a national diploma in electrical engineering and has also worked in the optical and catering industries. He is now attending King's Heath Horticulture College one day a week.

He chose to pursue a career in horticulture as he enjoys working outdoors and the variety of work this entails. He gains immense satisfaction from completing a job and leaving the area neat and tidy, especially when compliments are received from members of the public.

James also enjoys the company of his colleagues and working as part of a successful team. He is always willing to take charge of a gang and always gives his best, coming up with new and innovative ideas for completing the work. His goal is to gain as wide a range of experience as possible and then to progress into management.

James's hobbies include playing football, off-road biking and he has a real interest in computers.
