Quadron manages Hastings Borough Council's grounds maintenance services including parks and gardens, recreation grounds, open spaces, watercourses, town centre displays, the cemetery and crematorium, closed churchyards, country park and local nature reserves, woodlands and the seafront.
Alexandra Park is the award winning "Jewel in the Crown" of the contract. The quality of the landscape and its management has enabled the park to gain Green Heritage status, and win "Best Park in the South East" for two consecutive years.
In addition to the horticultural excellence of Alexandra Park, it also contains a famous bowling green which is over 100 years old. Quadron maintains this and Hastings' other famous bowling greens including White Rock and West Marina.
Sustainablility is a key priority and enhanced sustainable working practices include:
the composting and re-use of 80% of all green waste from open spaces.
All tree materials are chipped and used as mulch
Tree stakes are taken from our own coppiced woodland
Huge reductions in the use of harmful chemicals have been achieved through good husbandry and alternative methods
Organic fertilisers are used wherever possible
Vehicle usage in open spaces has been reduced and electric vehicles introduced in parks.
