Something fishy happened in Hastings on a sunny April morning!
Sarah Pollard, our administrator, discovered a new 'plaice' of work when all available staff were required to rescue fish from a pond in Alexandra Park.
We are required to clean the silt from the pond every couple of years and, having pumped out most of the water, the fish were 'flounder'ing at one end.
The fish were transferred to wh'eel'y bins by other staff 'perch'd on the edge of the pond and released in another pond further up the park.
This was a joint effort between Quadron, the Environment Agency and HBC Ranger service.
Most of the fish are Koi carp, however a pike and two eels were also removed.
Obviously quite a lot of 'mussel' was required!

There was no carping as everyone pitched in to rescue the fish!
