Quadron Clients achieve bumper crop of In Bloom Awards

Blooming Marvellous!

Quadron clients had cause for celebration when the regional "In Bloom" results were revealed in September.

The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham picked up a staggering 16 Awards in the London in Bloom competition, including a Silver Gilt for the Borough overall.  The judges were impressed that the council "continues to maintain their parks and open spaces to high standards.  A major success for a small team."  The Mayor of the Borough, Cllr Frances Stainton was thrilled with the results, commenting, "Our wonderful parks and open spaces have never looked so good and I am glad they are now getting the recognition that they so richly deserve."

Not to be outdone, The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea also won a host of Gold and Silver Gilt Awards, with Gunnersbury Cemetery receiving the honour of Gold Award and overall Category Winner in the cemeteries division.  The Borough's Mayor, Cllr. Julie Mills wrote to council officers and Quadron's Senior Contract Manager to express the pride the community felt and to praise those involved for their contribution, saying, "We all know the real work goes on behind the scenes and that only consistent commitment will lead to such enviable results."

Rounding off the achievements in London was the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames which achieved a High Silver in the awards.

Meanwhile, there was more good news from Birmingham when the city was crowned Overall Winner in the Heart of England in Bloom competition. The city will now go forward to represent the Heart of England region in the Large City category in the National Britain in Bloom Campaign 2012, where it will be joined by King's Heath representing the area in the Urban Community section.

Darren Share, Birmingham's Head of Parks, was thrilled with this year's results. He says: "It is fair to say that the results are better than any of us expected and the feedback from the judges is that this year's entry was even better than last year.  As we are representing the region in the Nationals in 2012, the pressure is on to make things even better for next year!  Can I add my personal thanks to you all for your commitment to this campaign and I look forward to working with you all on next year's entry."

The Royal Horticultural Society's Britain in Bloom campaign is one of the largest horticultural campaigns in Europe, involving over one thousand communities across the UK each year.  Participating communities create lasting improvements to their local environment for the benefit of those that live, work and visit there.  Participants begin by taking part in their regions campaign and work towards potentially being nominated into the RHS Britain in Bloom UK Finals.  London in Bloom and Heart of England in Bloom are two of 18 such regional campaigns.
